HTI brought together leaders from over 40 healthcare organizations for the Collaborative Summit on Building a National Health Data Trust Network, held at Stanford University. The summit’s goal was ambitious: to lay the groundwork for a unified framework that enables secure, ethical, and equitable data sharing across healthcare systems nationwide.
At the heart of the summit was a shared belief that trust is the foundation of effective data exchange. Dr. Anwar Saleem, Chief Policy Officer at HTI, emphasized: “Without robust trust frameworks, data silos will persist, hindering innovation and delaying patient-centered breakthroughs.”
Participants collaborated in working groups to address legal interoperability, blockchain-based security models, patient-centered consent mechanisms, and cross-jurisdictional compliance. The summit concluded with the adoption of a draft document outlining HTI’s Data Trust Principles, which include transparency, accountability, equity, and patient empowerment.
This document will serve as the basis for pilot programs launching later this year in partnership with several regional health networks. HTI is inviting additional healthcare entities to join the network and help shape a future where privacy and innovation can thrive side by side.
