Privacy by Design: National Symposium on Health Data Trust

The Healthcare Trust Institute (HTI) recently concluded its first annual Privacy by Design: National Symposium on Health Data Trust, a dynamic event that brought together over 500 professionals from across the healthcare and data privacy sectors. Held in Washington, D.C., the event focused on integrating privacy and security practices into every layer of healthcare data management.

Keynote speaker Dr. Eleanor Braddock, a nationally recognized expert in digital health transformation, emphasized the urgent need for data governance frameworks that prioritize patient trust. “The future of healthcare is interconnected,” Dr. Braddock said. “But that future cannot exist without trust in how we collect, share, and protect sensitive health data.”

Breakout sessions explored topics such as secure AI deployment in clinical settings, consent frameworks for secondary data use, and case studies on successful inter-organizational collaboration. HTI’s Privacy Innovation Panel also debuted a new toolkit for hospital compliance officers to self-audit their privacy protocols.

Attendees walked away with actionable steps to help their organizations adopt privacy-by-design methodologies, enhance regulatory compliance, and, most importantly, foster patient confidence. A full video archive of the event will be available exclusively to HTI members next month.
