The House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Final Report

The Speaker’s AI Task Force was chartered to explore how Congress can ensure America continues to lead the world in AI innovation while considering guardrails that may be appropriate to safeguard the nation against current and emerging threats.

Speaker Johnson and Leader Jeffries each appointed twelve members to the Task Force that represent key committees of jurisdiction and was jointly led by Chairman Jay Obernolte (CA-23) and Co-Chair Ted Lieu (CA-36). The Task Force was tasked specifically to produce a comprehensive report including guiding principles, forward-looking recommendations and bipartisan policy proposals developed in consultation with committees of jurisdiction.

The Task Force final report offers key principles, findings, and proposals on AI, examining impacts on education, health care, and intellectual property, among several other major policy areas. The report is the product of nearly 10 months of work by the bipartisan Task Force, which included consulting with a broad swath of government, industry, and civil society officials in more than a dozen hearings and roundtable discussions.
